Headphone mic intermittantly not detected

Installed EnOS with KDE Plasma a couple weeks ago and been having a blast. It’s my second linux experience, my first was I think a tiny-core install on a 8 inch laptap about a decade ago, little less. KDE EnOS is lovely. Since install though I’ve been having intermittent sound issues, that I am giving up trying to solve alone and coming to you folks.

My sound system: I’ve got speakers plugged into my monitor(HDMI) that I play music through. I have a second set of speakers plugged into my rear port that I listen to other things through (I like the spacial separation, helps me parse the voices in, say, a youtube tutorial). Then when i game I plug in a headset to the font panel ports(boom pro mic cable + a philips headset)

When i do this, the rear port speakers mirror the front port headset sync output, so i turn the speaker volume knob down. This worked fine until last week where my mic stopped being detected. I do consider it a minor issue though, that I would like help figuring out the event manager for.

The major issue is that, twice now I’ve had persistent times where no program (including the audio device configurator in KDE) can find my mic. The mic worked last week and works today if I log into my windows partition. I had this issue a month or so ago and after 4h of futzing it was fixed, but i couldn’t identify how or why it was fixed. I’m only get monitor input, not device input. If I could get walked through this that would be lovely

Thanks!

And I turn on my computer today and it all works perfectly. Discord is detecting my mic and everything, whereas when i posted i restarted 3 times trying to fix it… whelp alright then. All my alsamixer levels were reset to max gain too, instead of mid 70s where i like them to be.

Well, I’ve traced it to some degree.

When i open zoom flatpak (have not tried AUR zoom yet) it somehow stops my computer from seeing my microphone and only sees the also_outpuit.pci monitoring channels.

This persists through a full power cycle ([shutdown, unplug, hold power button 30s, startup again).

I’m woefully lost trying to find out where to re-enable my mic though.

So, in pavucontrol, under configuration, setting Built-in Audio to Analog Stereo Duplex gets my mic back. How or why flatpak zoom is changing this i have no idea, but it’s fixed [SOLVED]
