Someone has made a flatpak for GIMP 0.54, the first public version of GIMP, it is before GTK was created so it uses Motif. It doesn’t add extra dependencies because it’s an isolated flatpak.
The logo is just a placeholder, GIMP didn’t even have a logo back then.
Fun fact: Tux was made with this version of GIMP, that doesn’t even have layers.

Tips:
To open a canvas click on File → New.
Just in case you didn’t read to use Fonts you need to install x11 fonts in your system with xorg-fonts-* named fonts in the Arch repos.
To use effects you need to right click the canvas.
