So, just to bring this discussion to a close…I now use pacman/yay for installation and pacseek/octopi for research. I removed Discover. Thanks for everyone’s comments.

Although I rarely use it, I always download pamac on my new installs (like yesterday). Broken or not, it works for me, when needed.
