Greetings friends

Hello friends,

I am new to the forums here, but a long time “techie.”

I started my journey like most, using Windows as my primary OS. I did use Ubuntu for a bit, and then RHEL/Fedora when I was in college.

When I progressed in my career I touched a lot of OS’s; HP-UX, AIX, OS/2, VMS/OpenVMS, etc.

I picked up a OrangePi board and went through several flavors of Linux and landed on BredOS as my favorite ARM Distro.

Recently, I decided to “revive” an old DELL Latitude E7450 Laptop and I wanted to stay on an Arch based distro, I stumbled on EndeavourOS and haven’t looked back.

I’m still getting used to using pacman/yay vs apt from debian based distros, but so far it’s been a great experience. I’ve browsed the AUR and flatpak repos as well, from what I have gathered it’s “install at your own risk.”

I can’t wait to learn more on my Linux journey!

Hi @destakob, endeavour is very good isn’t it. Pacman and yay take a bit of getting used to when coming from a more verbose package manager, but when you start getting your head around the rather obscure options, they’re also very good.

Thank you for that, that’s going right into my bookmarks!

man pacman

is a very useful command.

In addition, our wiki and the Arch wiki have lots of info about pacman and yay.
