so far so good ; what i need is to get the cirlce get colored note: not the area in the circle but the lines of the cirle!? ’

how to achieve this - which tools to work with - any and all idaes are greatly appreciated

So the circle is on a separate layer to the background? If so you could use the colourize option under the menu colours. (I’m guessing this is GIMP?)

There are also a couple of other ways to achieve this you could use colour exchange and select the colour of the circle and replace it with the colour you want to use

If I understand correctly what you want to do:

Edit > Stroke Selection

A popup menu will appear to select the color and the thickness of the line.

Yes.

I mistakenly wrote that the popup window contained the color selection - it doesn’t, the color selection is in the toolbox. My memory was a bit faulty.

That will give you this end result, which I think is what want:

You can get a smoother looking circle by converting the ellipse/circle selection to a path, then stroking the path. It’s one extra step: create your circle with the Ellipse tool, then Select > To path, then use Edit > Stroke path instead of Stroke selection.

That makes the edges look smoother, which may or may not be important to you.
