Google up to its usual tricks

You may want to opt out.

“opted out” since some years - 99% free of Google & Co (as far I can see & check it…).

But it’s nearly as to escape from Alcatraz.

Don’t have Gmail or Google drive so all good here. But thanks for sharing so others are aware though.

This is one of the reasons i use a local dutch Email provider, gave up on Google a long time ago!

They can read mine, that will send Gemini to sleep  Can’t remember the last time I sent a personal email, most incoming are marketing or shopping/delivery notifications.

Playing somewhat of a devils advocate here…

If you want AI to help you with your tasks - and it certainly can - then you have to give AI access. That isn’t a trick, that’s just a necessity.

Esp. on a corporate account I don’t care. It’s not my information. Don’t ask me, I just work here.

Make my day.

Yeah thanks for the link I turned all off.

F Ai no fake “skynet” is getting my info.

I have opted out from Gemini options on Gmail and other Google services and use Assistant on my phone because it has to have some sort of an assistant app enabled, or Android Auto doesn’t work correctly.

My wife had heard about this, but this was months back. But neither of us can’t remember from where this was. There is of course a possibility that this was related to Gmail’s use of Gemini on creating summaries about messages, but either way, I have it disabled already.

I must have seen it before, because it was already off for me.

When I set up my first Android phone, I followed advice to only use the Gmail account for Google matters, and keep using existing email addresses for everything else. So if they were scanning my Gmail, they would only be scanning emails from themselves.

Malwarebytes is blowing smoke here. Opt out stuff is bait and switch. The EULA for using gmail renders much of article neutered . It basically says in robot (lawyer) voice: “all your words belong to us.” I feel like the tiny % of the pop. (me) that reads this stuff..they flat out tell you they data-mine all yr emails/info, sell it to 3rd parties in order to tailor advertising to you and that’s the condition of using it. “opt in/opt out” a big red herring.

appearing to be on the up while not being on the up

cynically yours, DV

I have de-registered Gmail some time ago.

Since Gmail does not transfer Emails with attachments correctly.

It was in 2012.
