I just installed dash to panel but i’m not sure about settings as i never used it before. I enabled it in tweaks. Everything seems to work?
did you reboot?
No …I try now!
I didn’t see any restart so i used systemctl reboot. Everything seems like it’s working?
Hmm, that’s strange… I’ll try and update the shell again.
I’ve tried it and now the opened app does show up again, the app is unresponsive. The only reponsive menu that is responsive is the Gnome menu in the corner.
Thanks for trying that. If the problem is in the Gnome Shell I will just wait until 3.36.4-2 comes out. But if the problem is in the dock-to-panel extension, who knows.

It is the gnome-extensions being two versions behind the Gnome-shell. I don’t understand why Gnome still operates this way, every single major update, the extensions break.
I understand that the extensions are third-party (more or less) but the majority of Gnome users are using them, so why not collaborate and communicate with the devs to be on one line.
In that respect does KDE a much better job.
seems upstream it is solved if you take source directly from github
I was in my “test machine” for another reason when I was notified that 38 updates were available. I updated, and Gnome was broke again even with several Gnome updates.
I was going to use Tweak to disable dash-to-panel, but I had to use Show Applications to get to tweak, then it messed up. I had to reboot, then get into a terminal window from the panel and removed gnome-shell-extension-dash-to-panel then rebooted.
Gnome worked as expected with just the default dash on the left side.
The version of dash-to-panel was the regular one in AUR, I really didn’t have time to try the dash-to-panel-git version but it would be interesting to see if that fixes it. Maybe later.
I also did not try dash-to-dock.

I switched from dash to panel to dash to dock and the problem is gone.
I fixed the dash-to-panel functionality by doing this.
In a terminal window as user at home
$ mkdir Temp (or other directory to receive the git clone)
$ cd Temp
$ git clone https://github.com/home-sweet-gnome/dash-to-panel.git
$ cd dash-to-panel
$ make install
ALT-F2 ( brings up run command window.)
r then return ( r reloads the shell )
dash-to-panel should be available
The options window for dash-to-panel is different, there is a tab “Position” that I don’t remember. Maybe it was there all along and I didn’t notice.

I was typing the same answer, I like the new functions though.

I will turn 70 yr old in September. As I have gotten older I have noticed that getting called cool gets rarer and rarer. SO thanks for making my day.
