Gnome settings lid close behaviour

hello party people

i recently switched from desktop to a notebook+egpu setup and ran into 1 rather big issue and a minor one aswell
when the egpu is active i have 2 external screens and the laptop screen itself goes lack - but when i close the lid the system suspends which is pretty annoying since i have to have it open
i havent found anything except some years old posts saying that it should be an option in extensions/tweaks but no dice there either

other thing is while egpu is active my mutter windows have a weird black square behind them - be it settings, files or whatever - it doesnt impact the usabillity at all, its just a bit annoying and id rather get rid of it

any advice would be appreciated

thanks

//figured it out
edit /etc/systemd/logind.conf to include:

HandleLidSwitch=ignore

^permanent solution tho, if instituted you need to make sure to actually shut your pc down
