Gnome 49 and X11 session

Probably it’s a rhetorical question, but is there no way to run GNOME 49 on X11 anymore?

According to several articles, it seems that Gnome 49 has retained the ability to start X11 sessions from GDM, but this functionality will be removed in Gnome 50.

This article suggests that gnome-shell can’t run in X11 mode anymore, so I guess the gdm session support is a bit useless?

I’d say if you have to rely on gnome X11, it’s probably best to opt for a LTS distro (Debian, Fedora etc.) that will run on older Gnome versions for a while.

Yes.

Not totally useless. It is useful for those users who launch another X11 desktop environment (Xfce, Mate, etc) using GDM as display manager.
