I really like Nautilus. Particularly since integrating it with MEGA.

Some of these features are already working and give some polish to what is arguably the best file manager.

7 Big Changes Coming to Nautilus 43

tl:dr

  • Reorganised context menus
  • Middle click on next and forward buttons to open in new tab
  • Checkerboard background for thumbnails with transparency
  • Menu item to open current folder in another application
  • Menu item to copy current path to clipboard
  • Better support for context menus on touchscreens
  • New zoom icons
  • Restyled in-app notifications
  • Modern ‘About’ window

So it looks like there may be more changes at least to Nautilus.
in the Gnome 43 launch.

It looks good, I’d wish it had compact view, so Nautilus would be perfect.

You mean listing detail? I do miss such an easy view. I bet there is a tweak for it out there.

Nope, listing detail is like this:

I really like this compact view:

Last time I’ve tried Gnome DE, Nautilus only had 2 views: Folder and List (details), but no Compact view.

That’s what I meant, I also miss that view. Let’s see. That looks like like Fedora.

Sorry, I didn’t understand on your first reply. Compact view is one of the few things I like since I was using Windows and a “must have” for me, but I couldn’t find any extension or tweak to have it in Nautilus and that’s one of the reasons I’m in Cinnamon instead of Gnome.

Yep, those images are not mine, first one is from the link you provided about Nautilus; the second one is from a quick search.

Wow, you are a fast adopter :grinning:

You mean, for the

:interrobang:

Or what exactly is exciting you about it?

I’m not excited. I just wonder why it takes so long compared to Plasma updates.

did i hear that correctly? no expandable folders in nautilus?

I’ve been running it for weeks all through the various beta- and rc-stages now, and I can’t really find one “exciting” thing about it. Except for the new default beep, of course…

:wastebasket:
