GLX fails after updating llvm-libs to 23.1.1-1 on Intel HD Graphics 4600

Hello everyone,

I would like to report a graphics issue on my EndeavourOS system and ask if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

System information:

  • Distribution: EndeavourOS

  • Desktop environment: XFCE

  • Display server: X11

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4460

  • GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Haswell)

  • Mesa: 1:26.1.8-1

  • llvm-libs: 23.1.1-1 (before downgrading)

The problem:

After a system update, FreeCAD and Endless Sky stopped starting. FreeCAD is an AppImage (version 1.1.4).

Running glxinfo -B produced this error:

Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig

Downgrading Mesa from 26.2.x to 26.1.8 did not solve the problem.

I then downgraded llvm-libs from 23.1.1-1 to 22.1.8-2. Immediately afterwards, glxinfo -B worked again, and both FreeCAD and Endless Sky started normally.

The OpenGL renderer is now reported as llvmpipe (LLVM 22.1.8, 256 bits).

Summary of my tests:

  • Mesa 26.1.8 + llvm-libs 23.1.1-1: GLX fails.

  • Mesa 26.1.8 + llvm-libs 22.1.8-2: GLX works.

I have temporarily added both mesa and llvm-libs to IgnorePkg to keep the working configuration.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Could this be an LLVM/Mesa compatibility problem, or should I investigate something else?

Thank you!
