GIMP 3.0: Is it dead or alive?

Have you tried clearing Paru’s and/or Pacman’s cache and force syncing?

paru -Scd && paru -Syyu gimp-devel

Also, there are two gimp-devel packages. Are you sure you have gimp-devel rather than gimp-devel-noconflict which still shows RC1?

gimp-devel: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages?O=0&K=gimp-devel

I realized that I had a bin package that hasn’t yet been rebuilt (ie didn’t pay enough attention to the source). I’m sure it’ll be up to date by later today. I didn’t intentionally install the bin, but that’s what I ended up with, saves lots of compilation though.
Or maybe I intentionally installed the bin, and just don’t remember it
But in line with the 3.0 release, I gave it a few runs and it looks quite improved over 2.0 line. I just hope gimp 4.0 comes out in less than 5 years.

Which bin package is that? I don’t see one on the AUR. Do you have an extra repo, like the Chaotic Repo?

Yep, cachy builds it apparently.

There is a flatpak for gimp 3.0 RC2. This is what I use. It keeps my gimp 2.10.38 untouched.

Tried to update this morning and a dependency package is missing for Gimp 3.0 Rc2

[ricklinux@rick-ms7c37 ~]$ yay -S gimp-devel
-> No AUR package found for gegl>=0.4.52
-> could not find all required packages: gegl >=0.4.52

Just updated the Flatpak. All good here.

If there is one thing I don’t like, it’s that every other update makes it fail to load my system theme. I have to go to the preferences and just use their default dark theme or manually redo my theme setup.

Then again, this may be related to my old settings not importing correctly, as noted in the changelog. I have settings from PhotoGIMP, which may be the actual issue.

gegl-0.4.52 is in extra-testing.

Thanks! I didn’t check too far.
