Hello!
It’s been awhile since I posted or been on the forum. For that I’m sorry it’s this new life we have…
I have bought several Gigabyte-78lmt-usb3 v5.0 and 1 v1.0 and they all have the same issue. The USB 3.0 ports stop working after a while and will not work until I reboot and then only work once. If I stop using the USB device the Data part stops working while the power side still works.
I have Searched Mint, MX, Ask Ubuntu and other forums and have not see issues for these boards but for USB 3 in general an mostly Windows. Now I can say that it does not make a hoot If it is Mint, MX. Arch, EndeavourOS, Debian they all have the same issue with these boards. I have all of these OS’s on all of them. They came from different sellers so nothing there could be a issue.
I have done a bunch of testing and searching last 2 days. My BTW Arch install has done this for 13 months was not a issue until now as my Dell Media Server 2 core 4 gig Mobo just needed updated. So I got these 4 boards that all have AMD 6 cores and 8 gig of ram.
I need to use my MiraBox Capture Card / box is a USB 3.0 HDMI Card/box to record my VHS tapes of the kids to my computer. Only have 40 or so tapes… Lol
But when I record some video and stop OBS to do some editing I found that the USB 3.0 ports are acting like my Arch computer with the same board and CPU. The USB 3.0 ports do not or stoped work. (Did not do this with the old Dell board)
Now the USB 2.0 ports work with no problem and when I have the MiraBox Capture Card / box on the USB 2.0 ports it works as it should and there are no issues with the ports. Did not have this with any of other the computers with USB 3.0 which are Asus and AsRock and a MSI boards.
I have a v1.0 of the 78lmt board in my sister’s computer that does the same thing. It was replaced last year. My BTW Arch computer is the same board as her’s…
The v1.0 boards are blue and the v5.0’s are black boards not that it should make a difference but someone will ask I’m sure.
So here are the testing I done with lsusb and lsusb -t…
INXI output!
Yes this is MX 19.3 but I have several of these boards that are all doing same thing no matter the OS that is installed. Arch or Ubuntu makes no difference…

I got on the internet and did a bunch of searching and found these settings an added them to Grub Boot.
Keeps the Usb Capture card working now and the Usb 30 port does not stop working now until I shut down OBS then the Usb 3.0 ports goes away… The Dvd player is not being seen too!

Closed OBS and the Usb 3.0 Capture Card and Dvd player are no longer seen.
The file manager no longer sees the Dvd drive and the video0 in /dev/
is also gone. Unpluged an re-plug both and still not recognized…

So if anyone has any idea where to go short of not using USB 3.0 on these boards… Lol
I’m using more and more USB 3 stuff so this is now a issue…
I have seen all kinds of USB 3.0 issues on the web but it is mostly Windows 7 / 10 issues with drivers and the 2 switches I added to the boot Grub was from Ask Ubuntu…
Thanks in advance for your help! (If you can. )
