General help on apps?

I still feel a Endeavour OS newbie. Should questions on an app that does not run be asked here or on archlinux forum?

It is Viking GPS data editor that is not running. I have Cinnamon 6.6.9 desktop,

NEVER ask questions or seek assistance on the Arch forums unless you’re using pure, vanilla Arch. Otherwise, you will be eviscerated.

I’m assuming this is the app?

Try launching it from the terminal and see if there are any errors that show up in the terminal.

Doesn’t launch here either. It doesn’t crash, no feedback in the console, but seems to just hang on a futex.

The flathub version works though.

I tend to steer clear of GTK apps whenever possible. But I installed Viking to test. Same experience as @Schlaefer. Doesn’t launch from app menu, running in terminal shows zero output. Flatpak runs without issue.

@matthias, if you don’t want to run the Flatpack and prefer the Arch repo version, I suggest checking out either the Viking support page or the Viking discussion page on Sourceforge.
