When I try to log in to gnome on xorg with the correct password, GDM brings me back to the login screen. But GDM works with ‘Gnome’ aka gnome on Wayland, That’s a problem because some apps are fuzzy in Wayland and Nvidia drivers don’t work properly in Wayland.
Try:
rm $HOME/.Xauthority
then try logging in again.
