Admittedly, I hadn’t looked at Garuda in at LEAST a year, but I somehow ended up over there today and saw their new moccha themes, and they didn’t hurt my eyes like Dragonized did/does.
In fact their aesthetics with their RANI applications are looking pretty nice.
So, I installed it over an experimental install of ChimeraLinux (Yes, I do have like 7 distros installed at most times) and test drove a Steam game that I had on an external SSD partition (thus skipping 60 gb of downloads) and found it (for whatever reason) to drive smoother than anything I’d yet tried this particular game on. Kinda surprising, but hey, maybe I should take Garuda more seriously. I’m not quite at daily driver, but it’s a possibility to consider as I try it a bit more.
Just thought I’d drop a note and let anyone that reads know that the eye hurt has gone. haah
I like Garuda, in general. But that neon/dragon stuff always pushed me away. The work to rid the desktop of that mess was just not worth even testing. But this looks pretty good. I might test it out on my laptop.
was intrigued. went to their blog. @BluishHumility had a lot of things to say about this direction. They have a Cosmic available in Alpha. He spoke about cattapucin and latte some more. Here’s the DE’s for Broadwing:
Just to clarify: I didn’t have anything to do with the catppuccin stuff. That was all @FDG and @dr460nf1r3. I maintain the Sway edition, which uses the Nord color palate.
Dr460nized and Mokka are both the same KDE spin, but with the two different themes (the catppuccin one and the bright neon one).
I never had any interest in using Garuda Linux. The Dr460nized style was a visual abomination to my eyes, and the default configurations were way too opinionated in ways that diverged from my opinions. I prefer the defaults that come with many of the desktop environments already and make my changes from a completely clean base. The Garuda XFCE spin was about as close as they ever got to my style.
I like what Garuda is doing but I am too opinionated myself to daily drive other opinionated systems. A base Archlinux system according to the wiki is the only opinion I go by. Anything above that is my own fault
But I may take a look at KDE Mokka Edition. It looks handsome
I still (as will probably always be the case) question some elements (so may have to modify some design choices)…but it does look nice overall (imo). Maybe I’m just as opinionated @Cactuxha
Same with me. That’s why I didn’t look at theire Website. Did that some days ago and tried Mokka … But … I think, I don’t like that too. Maybe I should take a deeper look into the DE, but at first glance it isn’t my one.
