add in ~.config/i3/config

exec-always –no-startup-id xrandr –output DP-0 –mode 2560x1440 –rate 143.86

you need 580xx-nvidia-dkms and nvidia-580xx-utilities installed

Exchange for your preffered res and hz, and important to know if your monitor if DP or HDMI
