Firewall and torrent

Hi,

I use qbittorrent and I dont have rules yet about the torrent like ;

ufw allow Deluge

So I thought I could not download any torrent yet?
But I can.
My only rule for now is ;

Status: active

A couple of things:

  • EndeavourOS ships with firewalld. If you installed ufw, did you disable or remove firewalld first?
  • You don’t need to open ports to download a torrent. However, your ability to seed may be limited.

As a side note, it is painfully difficult to block torrent traffic with a firewall.

no, I still have firewalld… I did not know. So I am better to uninstall firewalld and do I need to set a rule for torrent?

If would prefer to use ufw, you should remove firewalld. You don’t want both running.

If you want to seed properly, you would need to open those ports. Also, if you have a router/firewall on your network, you would need to forward those ports from there as well.
