in Firefox youtube videos are not playing they are keep loading to check that is not problem in Firefox or something else i checked it by installing waterfox but still same problem
Well, it might be helpful to describe your setup. Are youâre connected to your ISP directly using the DNS the ISP is providing? Are you using a VPN service? Or a proxy? Have you tried to restart firefox with add-ons being disabled? Does the domain name resolve?
Stating an issue without asking a concrete question or providing related information wonât help. And we are no visionaries here.
i am using hotsport from my phone and i donât have installed extensions and i did restart firefox
i am new here so thatâs why

Please open a terminal and run the following command. It updates your system fully, so please follow the prompts when asked for your password or to confirm yes / no questions. This ensures the issue is not because of an outdated system.
sudo pacman -Syu
Note: You may need to reboot after this command, so please reboot if you get a notification to do so.
Then run the following commands so that we can see what your system is like:

Thank you
check with the OEM of the computer/motherboard you have and see if they have a newer bios
is everything is ok in this
Firefox is also causing trouble with YT on my end since 2 weeks. Disabled UblockOrigin and Ghostery (only 2 addons I run) and the problem remains. No idea as to why FF is messing with YT but it is not the first time itâs doing that.
Solution: I changed to Librewolf and all is well.
I use YouTube in Firefox every few days, and I donât have this issue. So, Iâd say this issue is not an issue with Firefox, but rather with user settings.
We just need to figure out if it is Firefoxâs config files (userchrome, add-ons, etc.), drivers, hardware, environment variables, etc.
@ddnn yup, the trouble is probably in there somewhere. In my case my settings are quite vanilla and out of the box. Never touched about:config either. Yet every now and then it acts up. Other videos are no problem its just YT. Whether it is on the YT sites or embeds on forums and alike.
Is this a question? If so, what is the question youâre asking?
Also, in your output, I donât see Firefox. Did you uninstall it? Or are you running Firefox from a portable location?
Lastly, you can also install fwupd to check for BIOS/Firmware updates.
See here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fwupd
I think itâs:
fwupdmgr get-devices
fwupdmgr get-updates
But donât run it right away. Weâll check other steps first.
If the installation of Firefox is truly vanilla and doesnât work, then it would likely mean there is a package missing or an environment variable causing issues.
Or maybe reinstalling by completely uninstalling the package and clearing Pacmanâs cache, then reinstalling the package would work.
Places to check:
nano /etc/environmentâ Run in a terminal. Requiressudoto make changes..bashrc.bash_profile.zshrc.profile- any start-up/autostart files you are running in your DE/WM
- also including
.local/share/applications
- also including
In all cases, log out and log back in if you make any changes since using source (like source ~/.bashrc or source /etc/environment) sometimes isnât enough.
Try to do the following.
Try to open the following URL in KDE Haruna. File > Open URL. You will need to have the package yt-dlp installed from the arch extra repo before you try this.
Then try to see if the Video plays in Firefox.
Repeat this for the videos that you want to do play in YouTube.
If it is not playing in both the places, i.e. Firefox and Haruna then we can look at the network and figure out what is going on.
If it plays in KDE Haruna but not in Firefox then we have to figure out what is going on in Firefox. For that open Firefox in a new profile or use Firefox Troubleshooting mode (Hamburger menu > Help and Report > Troubleshooting mode) and see if the issue still persists. If it does not persist in Troubleshooting mode or in another profile then you will have to create a profile and use that.
Also since you are using your mobile hotspot, what you can do is check on your mobile, in a browser, not chrome not YouTube App, whether the above YouTube URL opens up or not. Sometimes Mobile Hotspot/Tethering is throttled by the carrier. Get back to us with your findings.
Edit:
When you test out YouTube videos with KDE Haruna and Firefox make sure that you see the full length of the video. So if the video is 5 minutes long, you should view it for full 5 minutes in both the apps, i.e. KDE Haruna and Firefox. If the video is 30 minutes the you should view it for for full 30 minutes in both the apps.
Do not do this is parallel, i.e. view a video using Haruna and Firefox together. Do it sequentially.
Reassure me that the sound is okay. Isnât it?
