Finally moved to 1440! AOC Q27G3XM

I’ve been on 1080p for essentially forever. The Asus VG248QE was pretty decent as a basic spec monitor with Display Port connectivity and 144Hz, but gamma settings were awful on anything but 60Hz.

Just shifted to the AOC below, and good god.. this thing is incredible. It’s possibly the cheapest mini LED monitor out there, with exceptional blacks and zero backlight bleed. Why didn’t anyone tell me how freaking good 1440 is for text!? If you’re looking for a decent 1440 monitor that works really, really well with Linux, - this one’s a gem!

I moved to 1440 about 8 months ago with the Lenovo Legion R27q-30 monitor. 1440 is the sweet spot, for sure!

The one thing I’ve noticed is that HDR is weirdly washed out, and there’s more colour fidelity and accuracy keeping it off. I don’t feel I’m missing much honestly.

Same. I’ve never liked enabling HDR for computer monitors.

Yeah, it sure is the sweet spot. I have a dual 27" BenQ GL2706PQ setup and couldn’t be happier. Another one who doesn’t like HDR on his monitors.

I now only use my 1080p as a second monitor. Six months ago, I treated myself to a 1440p LG Ultra Gear. It’s amazing.

I bought a Dell U2518D in 2020 when I started working from home. My wife still uses the old 1080p one

I’ve got a dual-monitor setup—my primary is 1440p and the secondary is 1080p. Really loving the 1440p! :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m debating patching in my old Asus VG248 monitor in alongside the AOC, but 27” is just insanely huge for me in terms of screensize. I’ve always wondered whether it would be worth having one in portrait mode (twisted 90 degrees) for text content and terminal output.

I tried, not suitable for me. I prefer both in landscape.

Same here, I have to crane my neck too much if one’s in portrait.
