I’m only here to see how many votes LXQT gets

I killed a 3 year install of Openbox 2 days back and installed Cinnamon. Still have Openbox installed on a few other computers, out with the old and in with the new. :beers:

Saving one computer for the new release of Xfce.

Favorite desktop environment is Gnome, but I also really like the tiling window manager Hyprland which I am currently using.

The potential of customization of XFCE is what makes me love that desktop environement the most. The only downside is that stock XFCE looks rather dated. But its rather easy to do some surface level changes that improve workflow so I never had a problem.

KDE Plasma for me, unless the pc’s specs are below par, in that case XFCE

Xfce for me. Stable, extensively customisable, stays out of the way.
I’m in the process of switching to tiling WM, however, and my choice is BSPWM.

Both for aesthetics and convenience I have favored KDE quite frequently, but I can never stick with it because of critical issues (as in crashing and freezing that is not experienced on other environments)

In the past, generally when escaping kde I have fled to XFCE; it has proven far more reliable for me.

I am a bit curious about LXQT too, I think it could be good but haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet.

For a year now I’ve been using hyprland, it’s not really an environment (the environment itself is custom, a mix of the best software I can find for each role)

Unlike any of the other environments it has been a pain to set up and there’s somehow always more configuration that can be done to improve on it. More personalizing that could be done.

But sticking with it has been surprisingly easy, if I’m left wanting something from another environment, I just add it, which ultimately ended me up with an environment that works just right for me, although i’ve been slacking on the aesthetics a bit.

I have always suspected that my crashes and freezes on kde were strongly nvidia related, but never absolutely confirmed it. It was also always on X11, maybe it’d be different on wayland, but I’m quite happy with hyprland as it stands.

River ! :vulcan_salute:

My crashes (plasma shell restarts) seem to have been narrowed down to Strawberry showing the new track notification. I haven’t had a crash since I installed and started using clementine but haven’t given it long enough to be sure yet.

Don’t even know what that is, mine mostly (but not exclusively) happened while gaming.

Strawberry is a bloody excellent media player with the crash logs looking like it was an Nvidia problem. Still if you’ve found an environment that doesn’t crash for you, that’s good.

KDE Plasma FTW!

It looks like a bit too much for me, I just organize my music in folders and play with audacious. I’ve been doing it this way since the days of windows xp, where I used windows media player instead lol.
