External ssd boot on mac and pc

Hi!

I haven’t got a straight forward answer to this and this topic on arch wiki is a bit too difficult for me.

I want to be able to boot endeavour os installation from my external ssd on on any mac or pc. How do I make that happen?

HI @metapath. Welcome!

This should be fairly easy and straightforward. You need to make sure your external SSD is connected, then select it as the installation device when using the Endeavour OS installer.

It should be listed as “sdb”, “sdc”, etc.

Edit: I just installed it on an external USB 3.0 SSD I booted into the liveusb and had the external SSD connected. I started the online installer and used the whole disc. I do this with test installs regularly.

Just attach it to your computer, and when you go through the installation menus just set that external ssd as the destination drive and that’s all I’ve had to do.
