Epson ET-2850 scanner driver

Hi All,

I am new to EndeavourOs so far I was able to make everything works except scanner when I try to install epsonscan2.

I get this error :slightly_frowning_face:

error: #error "Boost.Optional requires some C++11 features since version 1.87. If you have an older C++ version use Boost.Optional version 1.86 or earlier."
24 | #error "Boost.Optional requires some C++11 features since version 1.87. If you have an older C++ version use Boost.Optional version 1.86 or earlier."

my understanding it is related to the endeavorOs using a new C++ version, is there a way to solve this?

I also get an error when I try to use scan without this dependency:

Not enough memory for Epson Scan 2. Close other applications and try again.

Is there a way around this error to get scanner to work?

for my epson scanner, I personally recommend the flatpak version of epsonscan2. The AUR version was buggy on my DE. Works fine.
flatpak install net.epson.epsonscan2

PS–I don’t know what that Boost and space error stuff was about tbh. Just know the flatpak works fine.

My scanner is still working on my first install but on my other 2 installs which came after the update I am getting the same error as you. At this time the AUR file is flagged out of date. Not sure when it will be updated.
At suggested by @drunkenvicar you can use the flatpak version, since I’m still update and working, I’ll wait for the update.

wow, it is update-related then. that means some package that got Arch-updated did not jibe with the AUR maintainer’s build? edit: In theory, I guess I mean?

2nd edit: then I would wait for the next update, too. AUR version never saw my V39 about 99% of the time, that’s why I switched to flatpak. cable and port all play a part I’m sure.

Tried not sure why  but it works great. When the AUR is updated I will install it.
I away said that I would ever use a flatpak program, you prove me wrong. :sob:

Me too, I try to avoid. I look at Flatpak as a necessary evil sometimes. Look at it this way, the Epson package would have been proprietary no matter which you chose .
