please excuse if this has been asked before, but I did not find anything on this. I made a fresh install with XFCE, but the eos-update-notifier is not running. Do I have to start it manually, and if yes, what is the proper way to start ist, or should it work OOTB?

Just installed an Xfce version, and noticed, that it doesn’t work quite as documented.
Now you need to start it by terminal command:
eos-update-notifier -init
as it is no more autostarted by default.
