EOS "Downgrading" on this massive 52GB update?

So i hit yay on the terminal and i noticed the top item was an EOS downgrade, and its downloading 52GB worth of data. Is this a normal update? Just wanted to make sure its not something weird going on. It looks much different from the others, its just one massive download instead of individual line items.

This isnt “EOS” .. this is your AUR packages.

The AUR is third-party user-generated content and your responsibility.

If you are unfamiliar with how it works and what it entails .. such as whats being downloaded, why, and/or how to interpret outputs then you might want to reassess continued use of these packages.


PS.

If you want to look at all ‘foreign’ packages currently installed which would include any locally compiled packages, AUR packages, or simply deprecated packages (anything not found in the repos) then execute:

this was a simple yay command that never yielded this type of result. I understand it includes AUR packages, but i was sketched by the top item saying EOS Downgrade, is that normal? Nearly all of these packages are core, not third party apps. It appears to be Electron32 related? Does this seem sketchy to you? I’ve never seen an update looking like this, with patches and deltas.

OK woah, people are talking about this on AUR. Oddly enough its only 258MB but both Electron 32 and 33 require serious building and space. Thanks again.

That is no downgrade of EOS but a update of a package named downgrade that happens to reside in the EOS-Repo.

This thread is an example of why I think EOS shouldn’t ship yay by default.

Yep, this bit me in the ass a while back, - Electron.. - which at some point was pulled in for a dependency on another package, and then decided that over 100gb of buildspace wasn’t in any way absurd.. Huge Update or me being stupid? (Electron32) - #9 by Canoe
