Hi I would like to know some few things. I am new to Linux but I want to use Endevour OS as a daily driver anyone knows the compatibility with Intel Arc graphics card ? I asking to make sure I am not getting myself into deep water. I only tried Endevour OS on paralllels VM and I am so hooked on having this as my daily driver ? Anyone has any idea or tips ? I going to install it with KDE plasma ?
Welcome to the community @EmilioL
Have you tried testing with the Endeavour OS live ISO? It uses KDE Plasma too.
Not yet because I am waiting to receive my laptop in into next week. I cant wait to install Endevour on it, its more a sort of pre investigation and the more I know the better.
Hi again I found out on Arch wiki that my laptop is fully supported right out of the box. This makes me really happy. And I will be looking forward to be a Endevour OS user.
Is this the laptop that you’re buying?
ASUS Zenbook S 14 OLED, Intel AI Powered Laptop, Intel Core Ultra 7 258V (32GB/1TB/Intel Arc Graphics/14.0" 3K Touch/Windows 11 Home)
yes that is correct
Do share how is the Laptop and your experience with it on EndeavourOS. I am in the market for a new laptop. Confused b/w Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 Gen 9 (AMD Ryzen AI 9 365) and this.
Did you install EOS with Neo ISO (Kernel 6.10)?
Hi I installed Endevour OS last night and I am more or less finished with most important things. I will say I am impressed everything worked right out of the box. Only minor issue was the keyboard was not using the correct keyboard input, but now that is also working. So absolutely crazy I been since 5 this morning using my laptop without charger and I have still 68 percent battery left. I am happy I highly recommend this laptop its blazing fast and I am not wondering why the hell I ever bought a macbook pro 16 2019 it costed me 4300 euro. I seriously feel stupid lol. But the mac I only use for work nothing else. The screen on this Asus is really good I mean its very color accurate and comfortable. I honestly use more time to get into windows recovery restart to boot in and then install Endevour OS yes I did delete windows 11. And then did a online installation first with Gnome but I do not like the new gnome. So I went back to KDE its a joy to use.
Hey how is the battery life and performance? Do all speakers work? Are there any issues with waking up from sleep?
Hi I am very surprised how good battery life is its better than my mac. And no issues with waking up after sleep, I just woke up my asus that I am writing from now. only minor thing is I would like to fix is touchpad is very sensitive to click or hover over links. but I do not know if there are some tips & tricks for that I have to ask in here ?
You said you are using Plasma. Have you looked in:
From the Apps Launcher, go into “System settings” then “Mouse and touchpad” then “Touchpad”
Then play around with some of the settings.
HTH
Pudge
Ooops, where are my manners. Welcome to the EndeavourOS forum. I hope you enjoy your time here.
Hi yes I tried but I apologize I refer to the when you click the sensitivity for the I do not know what to call it the trigger sensitive. In other terms my touchpad is pretty darn trigger happy
Hi again I fixed the issue with touchpad trigger sensitive I disabled tap to click that cause the problem now it works perfect.
Nice, looks like your purchase was worth it. You made me want to pull the trigger on this 2024 Asus S14 Intel. Its a huge investment… Hope it works fine on EOS with Gnome.
Hi I am seriously impressed about ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED honestly I like way more the keyboard on this one than my 4300 dollar macbook pro. Maybe the only thing where the mac wins with a little bit is the touchpad but it is not with a much, then screen on this one I been looking at both at the same time I would say the ASUS is also a winner on this. And yes I do own both laptops so I not biased. I yesterday when working on my ASUS I started smiling because I only paid 1200 bucks. And it just beat the hell out of my mac okay to be fair the mac is from 2020. my Asus has 32 gb ram 6 gb gpu and 1 tb ssd. battery life is just awesome compared to the mac. I rarely hear the fan goes off the rail. Ireally think I got a lots of bang for the buck on this one. I tried Endeavor with Gnome it works fine I always used to swear to Gnome but I no longer like the new look and feel of it, before I never got the hype of KDE but now I do. I really enjoy a lot Endeavor os KDE wayland. To make my life a little more easy I installed icons that looks like those on macOS big sur and autohide task bar and then my own wallpaper and that is it. Its a very fast OS compared to macOS
Hey you mentioned that you found that S14 OLED Intel is supported on Arch. Can you share where you found out that?
Hi I found it on https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Main_page you can search inside their page the Asus is a UX 3405 there is a MA and just a 3505 version but both are fully supported there is a huge list of all compatible laptops and hardware. Try search in there because I used to have the direct link. If I have on my other computer I will post it here
I think we are talking about different laptops here.
I was talking about the new Zenbook S14 with Intel’s Lunar Lake processor (Intel Core Ultra 7 258V) and If I am not mistaken, yours is Zenbook 14 with Intel’s Meteor Lake processor (Intel Core Ultra 7 155H). You can use fastfetch
to check.
nope just checked I do use meteor lake processor Info: 16-core (6-mt/10-st) model: Intel Core Ultra 7 155H bits: 64
type: MST AMCP cache: 24 MiB note: check
