“But don’t feel frustrated you can make KDE beautiful enough, or even code your own beautiful de with AwesomeWM which will outperform and be much sleeker than Deepin”.

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. I have always wondered why people think Deepin is the only beautiful looking desktop. With minimal customization you can make KDE look as beautiful or even better looking as Deepin. BTW, I myself use KDE Plasma…

Well they have professionally made and consistent UI / UX and right out of the box - there’s no doubt about it.

Not many people can match that, coz not many know where to look…Good UI is far beyond from just what your eyes can see :upside_down_face:

To match / outperform it in all departments at once requires some serious effort, or ripping of someone’s r/unixporn and improving it…

But it’s very worth it - because that will be controlled only by you, not by some corpos or CCP

P.S. Oh and what i really don’t get is how anyone can like their current design - it was such a mistake

Well, to be honest their previous look was beautiful and unique, the current look is nothing special and can be recreated by KDE or Xfce for that matter.
I don’t understand why they suddenly changed that.

No thanks. I’ve been burnt by Deepin once. No more. It’s just trash w/flash as far as I’m concerned.

I don’t think it’s trash. It strikes me (and yes this is an opinion, which is worth what you pay for them) as a coherent design and just appeals to me. KDE could…but it really (imo) needs a better default configuration. GNOME, not so much (at least in my eyes). I am not confident that the efficiency and slow startup is viable (definitely room for improvement there, this refers to DDE not Gnome (my bad)).
It however, (as stated several times before) is only stable on it’s own distro, it is not portable.
However, this is my opinion, and it is certainly worth what you paid for it.

They used to make this fantastic wide body kit to make a Pontiac Fiero look like a Ferrari. It looked great.

At the end of the day, it still had a garbage GM 2.8L V6 that had the power of 9 asthmatic children which they put in the back of the car. This also made it hard to work on and it was basically trash that looked nice until you looked closer and realized it wasn’t a Ferrari and nothing really looked like it fit just quite right.

Deepin is the wide body Pontiac Fiero is DEs.

For not so avid car people: it’s like an Acer dressed up to look like a Thinkpad.

Deepin Doesn’t Do It For Me! I’ll stick with KDE. 5.25 is coming soon!

I have a grand prix gtp and am in a 3800 series fb group. There are a bunch of people put supercharged 3.8s in those feiros and they get up and scoot.

I don’t condone anything that would enable further longevity of one of the worst cars in the history of engineering.

Flip side. Those gtp’s were fun to drive. I would have bought one years ago if it came with 3 pedals.

I can’t even fathom trying to get my arm in that engine compartment. That would be absurd.

Conversion kit instructions:

  1. Check kit for completeness - including Tremec 6 speed
  2. Remove everything in the way in the engine compartment …
