For Arch, You like pain. Now hold it just a minute. Did they just call Arch users masochists? Or Sadist?

I read the title and said “That’s ME!”

What is the purpose of this post? To show its arrogance?
This post is no good for the EOS community. Period.

Oops what a mistake to make

I wanted to install Arch, but it didn’t detect my WiFi card and I didn’t have Ethernet available back then. So EndeavourOS it is and I love it. It has all the advantages of Arch, while also having AUR helpers in the repo and this forum.

That’s precisely why I chose Endeavour. I’ve never regretted it because it’s awesome and so is the community!

Before I day before yesterday installed EOS again, I used couple of weeks Arch. I used archinstall, because I think installation should be straightforward and not pain, which in the end doesn’t make you understand your system any better, because you simply copy everything from Arch Wiki.

On a side note, I have installed Arch couple of times in “Arch way”, whatever that means now after archinstall is part of the official ISO and I dare to say, that archinstall in sense makes you understand you system more, because it allows you to see and config packages, drives, etc. so that you are fully aware what you are having.

In daily use, there is not really difference. Depending of the DE, there’s quite a lot done for you, so there’s not that much to set up yourself. I use my system most for gaming, and both systems have served me well.

I like Arch, but as older I get, I like that potential re-install of the system, as it’s management, is as comfortable as it can be, but in a way that in the end, I’m in charge. EOS is in my opinion excellent blend of Arch, maybe even Arch in a way it should be, leaving some of it’s rough edges behind.

Also, you can’t compare communities of these two; I think I don’t have to say, which one has an true community, where people help each other instead of reflecting hardships they faced during their first install and use in general. :enos:

I think we should just enjoy what we choose to use. I use EndeavourOS because it is the OS that lines most with what I think an OS should offer. An easy way to get installed and even back up and running with the least amount of “lost” time.
