Good evening everybody,
I hope everybody on the forum is doing well. I am encountering an issue using a debug tool for Elden Ring. In the readme.txt for the debug tool, it lists three system/program requirements for running the tool (see block quote below), which are evidently tools tailored to users running the tool on Windows.
I am able to launch the GUI of the tool on my system after downloading the required tools, but a fair portion of the GUI’s functionality is not present (e.g. I am unable to click the “Check” button under the “Misc” tab). For reference, I am launching the tool (as an .exe) via Steam using Proton experimental. I am doing this because in order to modify certain event flags in my game save file, I have to have the debug tool open simultaneously with my game. My question is as follows: is there a better environment in which I should be launching the debug tool, and how can I ensure that environment is synchronized with the version of the game I am running through Steam? Finally, I should mention that I am running the SeamlessCoop mod for Elden Ring, and have encountered a couple of issues after conducting invasions. If I can make the debug tool function, I should be able to resolve the issue following the FAQ guides on the SeamlessCoop mod website, but am unable to do so.
Thank you so much to anybody who is willing to help with this! I am going to continue trying to figure it out in the meantime, but I would appreciate any guidance.
After researching a bit more, I found other folks who had similar issues, including those who held this helpful discussion on the Github for the debugger tool:
Seems like even with the modifications to the debug tool, these users still had issues hooking the debug tool to their active game session. Ultimately I ended up brute forcing a re-play of my character up to the point I had it before, and have not run into further issues with the mod since. I would imagine that the long-term solution is to build a native version of the debugger tool that can be run on various Linux distributions, which I think would be a fun project to take on! I will provide any updates here if I do so, despite my utter lack of expertise.
