eDP-1 display stuck at 1920x1080 instead of native 1920x1200 (Intel i915, GNOME)

My laptop display (CMN N160JCE-ELL) has a native resolution of 1920x1200
but GNOME only offers 1920x1080.

  • GPU: Intel i915 (Alder Lake/Raptor Lake)
  • Kernel: 6.19.11-arch1-1 (also tested 6.12-lts, same result)
  • /sys/class/drm/card*-eDP-1/modes shows 1920x1200
  • Debian 13 on the same hardware works correctly with 1920x1200

Already tried without success:

  • video=eDP-1:1920x1200@60 kernel parameter
  • drm.edid_firmware=eDP-1:edid/1920x1200_eDP.bin kernel parameter

Any ideas?

Hello @Lothar

reminds me on an option I checked accidentally in the gnome options called “optimize for TV” or so. This ended with black bar on bottom and top of the display.

Maybe, it is something like this.

Ciao, Photor

Solved: The resolution was set to 1920x1080 in GNOME display settings. Changing it to 1920x1200 in the resolution dropdown fixed it.

Can’t see the forest for the trees. :person_facepalming: (or better “can’t see the solution for the Claude”) :slightly_smiling_face:
