Yes, I know Distrowatch is not a true list of worldwide use and popularity, just thought it was sad to see EndeavourOS drop to 4th and CachyOS rise to #3
Well, at least they’re both Arch
Edit: I see Cachy being recommended a lot on Reddit, so that’s probably a primary source of it’s apparent growth.
Distrowatch isn’t a legitimate ranking. Once you realize that, you don’t care about a distro’s ranking.
More useful aspect of distrowatch is the distro catelog and also the user reviews.
Yep, I think we both realize that…but it’s still nice to be higher up the totem pole.
exactly, which is what i mentioned to begin with
i just want it to be at the top, knock Mint off it’s high horse LOL
I think mint deserves it’s top spot. It has one of the largest userbase of any linux distro.
Oh shit! That makes it basically unusable.
Let me check which distro I have to switch to.
Edit:
Mint obviously
I use Arch, #65, by the way
So what do I care?
The live iso from catchyos does not work correctly with touchpad on my 13 years old hp notebook. While endeavour does work properly. Endeavour runs nice so i wont change it for something on top of that
Nothing wrong with Mint being up there. They have done a lot of hard work over there and are really reliable. My server has been running LMDE for about 5 years now and only a few minor issues caused by myself (too many servers conflicting on one host). At least if the rankings mean anything then more people are on Mint than Ubuntu or Manjaro. Progress.
Those ratings are based on clicks. If you click on a page, that indicates interest, and of course the top ones get the most clicks which keeps them floating near the top. It doesn’t reflect installed base.
I ran Cachyos for awhile, but it’s not stable. Miss a few updates, and breakage occurs.
And Mint still the first
Void is #94
Ya …eos should be number one!
Archlinux FTW! Because it keeps it so simple that even an stupid like myself can use it
Keep It KISS!
If you want a more representative idea of usage, look at Steam stats for OS, - we’re right there..
True, it doesn’t see my wifi card on my new Dell Inspiron 15 3535 laptop, but EOS does
Well that is subjective, just got this from https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam
