Don't let stress fool you

So have been dealing with a lot of issues lately, not system related. Do not let stressing fool you it a mistake, I spent more in 3 days on smokes than I ever would have before I quit. Not wanting sympathy just saying cos I know others on the journey of quiting dont let it fool you.

I can empathize with you. I’ve been smoke-free for 5 or 6 months now. For 30 years, I smoked at least 20–30 hand-rolled cigarettes every day. All of that takes a toll on your mind and body. You really should listen to that advice.

Yer I was til the other night, had some bad inguries to head and kidneys and fell back on it, I shouldn’t have and hoping others will see and hopefully not do the same as I did

Yeah, I saw that in another thread when you were talking about it. But it’s hard to admit to yourself that you need help.

This was on top of dealing with grief, as said though not wanting sympathy just hoping it can help someone else or make them think before picking up an old coping mechanism

I quit smoking and it took me many attempts. My best advice is never count how many days it was since you last did it, just try and forget about it. You’ll always be tempted to treat yourself for good behavior and have a cheeky one. If you do slip up though it doesn’t matter just start again. Every time you don’t light up is a win but that doesn’t mean it’s a fail when you do. IMO.

yer i not wanting to by another packet, wish I dint buy this one, as bas as it taste I wanna finsh them ( i had one drag put it out they not for me at the momenr

You’re having a hard time right now. Don’t beat yourself up over a packet of cigs regardless of what you do with them.

Maybe it would help changing your username to something else, as I can imagine that it could remind you of the person you are when smoking because “smokey” smokes. You don’t have to follow the advice but it’s just the first thing that came to mind when you shared that. Maybe it will help you to not think of smoking when stressed when you have a username that doesn’t remind you of it.

Lol it’s funny you say that. For ages my password was tobacco related and I refused to change it… I think it’s too deep rooted for that to matter in all honesty. You’re always going to see reminders of smoking, you have to get over that.

this related to something different and old as, I get why you suggested though. I just had the last out the packet. Not planning to get another but yer wish me well, I dont want it.

True but I can imagine when stressed and you just quit, you’re a bit more fragile to temptation of just grabbing a smoke again. With time a person gets stronger and then the urge will be less.

I get what you’re saying but this is more about stress and grief rather than a specific vice. I have no interest in nicotine anymore but lets please not talk about my drinking habbits lol.

We all have our go to when at a low ebb. Smokeys gone back to an old one rather than finding a new one. Chin up bro.

nah I agree, it not a smoke, a cone or anything else, I just want a hit I can’y amd wo;; probably never get again. sorry, stay safe and ask for help.

Don’t apologize pal.

thanks I know I shoudlnt old behaviour

I hear ya. It’s difficult. Especially if we’ve never been taught how to sit with difficult emotions and process them. Easy to grab a vice and suppress. No judgement. We’ve all done it. Heck, look at how popular screens and smart phones are.

Have you read the book/audibook Alan Carr wrote? Easy Way to Quit Smoking?

I too struggled with smoking. Started at age 13. Kept trying to quit up until 19. Swapped to snus (snuff) which ultimately got even worse. Still smoked while partying at that point (every weekend). Went from 20 cig (at times 40-60) a day to 1-3 boxes of snuff instead, which is roughly comparable to 30-100 cig a day in terms of nicotin amount. Reached a point where I was just done and needed to let go.

Read the book at the right time. Had one relapse after 2 years for about a week. Read it again. It’s now been 17 years since that initial quitting and I have 0 desire to ever do it. Tons of trauma work has given tools to sit with difficult stuff.

If you read it, I highly recommend to not question any of it. It’s repetitive, and dull at times. Just go in, open mind, and allow the repetition to change your brain. It works for around 70% of people if I remember correctly. You got this

Nah thats mad as
