Dolphin use 3-dot if filename is too long

When the filename gets too long, Dolphin will use 3-dot at the end before the extension suffix. When I clicked the file to rename it, I still can’t get the original full name, but the side panel info still shows full name. Is there a way I can change so the main window shows full name as well? Thank you.

Dolphin settings → View → Icons → Maximum lines → Unlimited.

Man, is that going to be ugly from a visual row by row perspective. Would be better to switch to Details View.

Alternatively, you can press F2 to rename a file. When you do this in Icons View, Dolphin will show the whole filename in multiple lines, but without moving the other rows. The filename instead just covers them temporarily.

I made the filename longer only to demonstrate.

True, it may not look good in that view. I just showed him where the setting is. He can play around with the numbers or just use it temporarily, get the renaming done and switch back.

I know you were just showing them how to do it. I was just giving an alternative method based on how bad I know it will look.
