Dolphin takes over 10 seconds to load a folder and consumes a lot of RAM

Installing adds on is usually the issue.

I’ve used add-ons in KDE Plasma, like Flat Remix, for years without issues. Unlike with other desktops, like GNOME and Cinnamon, where add-ons flat out don’t work as intended or get broken during a minor desktop update. My guess is that the developer of the Flat Remix icon theme didn’t do a good job of porting to Plasma 6. Thankfully, the Flat Remix icon theme is not important to my workflow.

Sorry for the delay.
I was thinking that maybe the reason could show itself already at boot time somehow. But apparently not this time.

Very often journalctl gives useful info, but it also can be quite big, then it is easy to miss the real reason.

And another great method which you did is testing with another user. It can eliminate quite a few alternative reasons.

I tend to stay away from most of these add ons. If i try one and is working okay then i know it’s a good one.
