So this has completely thrown me off, and I couldn’t figure out how or why new folders were being created inside a folder I wasn’t even in. Turns out it’s a change in behaviour and/or bug. If you have a folder selected in Dolphin, and then press Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new folder, it will create that folder inside the folder you have selected.
Which means you have to actively check a) you’re not selecting a folder with focus from either your keyboard or mouse. Absolutely bizarre. I don’t get why this would be something changed, literally no other file manager behaves like this. It’s a standard for a reason..
That’s still ugh though. There should be one rule - as it was in the past: The new folder gets created in the currently visible folder (the one in the dolphin path field). Simple. Consistent.
But there’s a drive to have a different behavior depending on a folder being selected.
They remove the footer to make app more “simple” out the box, end then they introduce that complicated system of different modes.
