Does Endeavour installer is trying to create EFI partition on my USB stick?

I’m trying to install EndeavourOS for the first time (and Arch distro for that matter).
While going through the installer I spotted something weird - installer is saying that it will create EFI partition on /dev/sda1, which in my case is my USB stick with Ventoy I’m using to run the ISO file. Is that normal? Or is it something unexpected?

For some reason in the dropdown menu I can choose only “sda1” and “New”, and entries are duplicated (also a side note, sometimes while picking a partition to replace, whole installer just closes immediately)

I tried selecting “New”, but in the Summary there is nothing indicating that EFI will be created. As if it wasn’t working.

I have two drives, one with Windows, second one with only data and 150GB of free space for Endeavour.

So, is it working or I have to create partitions manually (which I wanted avoid, but oh well).

Welcome to the EndeavourOS forum. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Where the install will be placed is indicated in the entry box with the red arrow.
In this case, the install will be on your NVME. There is also a down arrow at the right of the entry box where one can choose a different destination.

Hey, thanks for the response. But I think there was a misunderstanding. I know that I can choose the drive at the top. I did that. And I chose correct NVME, but I have a problem with the EFI partition at the bottom.

If I will leave it at the default selected option of /dev/sda1, then it looks like it will try and use EFI partition from my USB stick, while whole installation will be on /dev/nvme1n1.

I obviously do not want use EFI from USB stick. I want to have it on the same NVME. So, what do I do?

There is a bug in replace partition. If you use replace with unpartitioned space, it won’t create the EFI partition.

To workaround that, create a partition of any type you want in the unpartitioned space before starting the installer and then use replace on that.

I was not aware of that bug. You learn something new every day so I have my quota and can go to bed now.

Oh, nice to know.
So I did that. I created a partition from the free space and summary looks a little bit different now, saying that it will first delete the partition. But still no mention about creating partition or mounting EFI. Should I proceed with it anyway or I have to do something differently?

Also what about swap? Does the installer also creating it?

EDIT: I just tried the option of installing it alongside. It actually shows steps of creating EFI…

EDIT2: Tried installing it using “alongside option”, but installation failed with “Bad main script” error
EDIT3: It seems there was an issue with using systemd, after switching to Grub and doing manual partitioning it worked.
