So I was getting the same issue last night and I thought I had solved it but it seems to have come back again. Everytime I try to compile the program it stops after listing the preinstalled plugins. On other forums they have all suggested that it is a issue with the window not being in focus.
Things I have tried to do to fix it are, using different versions of WINE, tried under a new user, set window rules to make sure the window is in focus. Removed and reinstalled it. Gone back to older versions of the project that were compiling which no longer are and trying a different WM/DE and switching to x11. I really have no idea what else to try. I haven’t updated so that isn’t the cause.
Really pulling my hair out here.
Ok so came up with a workaround for this. Just incase anyone else ever has issues (note not sure if this will work with things besides Pokemon essetials).
What I did was compile MKXP-Z and copied the binary (from the linux folder) over to the projects folder, I then backed up my Game.exe and renamed the binary to this. I then opened RPG Maker XP and launched the test mode holding down control to force it to compile, although now termial opens it still compiles, I tested this out with several plugins. Some changes I made to the title screen etc didn’t show up but I think I may need to copy the json file over also to make these changes (but this is just a guess) but when I reopened with the original exe those changes were back. I’ll have to play around with this a bit more as it seems I can also make an Appimage with this also.
