Discord not being updated to 1:0.0.91-1

Discord won’t start, because it needs to be updated. I checked the version on the arch website, and it’s the new one - pacman seems to disagree? It tells me 1:0.0.90-1 is the newest version.
For now I’ve solved this by just manually installing the new package, but I’d still like to know what’s up with that?!

Did you sudo pacman -Syy first?

My suggestion would be to abandon the Arch package and install the Flatpak if these circumstances bother you.

In short, add the following line to your discord config file.

"SKIP_HOST_UPDATE": true to ~/.config/discord/settings.json

You can wait until the mirrors in your mirrorlist are in sync.
Or refresh your mirrorlist.

Yeah, I did.
It doesn’t usually bother me when I have to wait a bit for the updated version, but usually it’s an hour or two, not almost a day (and it’s still not there).
I usually use the flatpack in the meantime, but seeing the package was already there, I just updated manually.

Thanks for the tip, I didn’t think they’d let you do that!

Why not use the Flatpak version permanently instead of temporarily? The Arch repository package offers no unique benefits. Since the Flatpak is officially packaged by Discord, it makes sense to stick with it going forward.

I switch out drives often, and redoing the permissions for it all the time is annoying.
It also used to be way more sluggish and getting it to use my actual cursor was a pain in the ass.

This likely fixed it. Seems like my mirrors were slow to sync. Reflector didn’t want to work yesterday, but now it did.

Thanks everyone for your time!
