Having a weird issue that only started happening the past couple of days
I’ll be in a Discord call with the homies, everything’s working fine. I launch a game, still working fine, and then after a few minutes, discord just freezes completely. I can still hear the homies and vice versa, I still get notification sounds and stuff but when I try to click or do anything on Discord it’s totally frozen until I quit and relaunch it
Can’t really find anything online about this and not sure what kind of logs I should be looking at or what have you to try to solve it
As @thefrog wisely suggested in that thread, try running Discord from the command line and see if it offers any useful output.
The other thing to consider, is Wayland. If you’re using it, try instead, logging in with an X11 session and see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, we might investigate ways to address it as a Wayland issue.
Wanted to make a quick update to this. When I run discord from the command line, Discord doesn’t freeze whatsoever. I’ve been doing it since I got the recommendation from @thefrog and @bink and no issues.
However, I don’t see anything that could indicate why it’s doing it when I launch the application without command line. So as of right now, I don’t really have a solution, but I don’t mind launching from the command line either so… yeah
@bink You had suggested trying x11 instead of Wayland, however, for whatever reason, x11 doesn’t work very well for my setup. I get display and performance issues and games don’t launch at all for me. Wayland’s much more stable, so I just stick with that.
