Dehancer will not load in DaVinci Resolve

Long shot, I know but I’m at a loss since the Dehancer team shrugged and said they can’t help because they will only support CentOS, Rocky and Ubuntu.

Im am getting a Failed to load error in the Video Plugins section of DaVinci Resolve.

I’m running an up-to-date Vanilla Arch installation, with CUDA and NVIDIA both up-to-date, with Resolve 19.1.4.

Funnily enough, Dehancer loads just fine under Nobara41, but it also doesn’t work under CachyOS, so I’m guessing there is something missing on Arch…

I noticed Nobara allows you to optionally install cuda-devel, maybe that’s something that’s also required by Dehancer?! But I can’t find such a package for Arch…

Shot in the dark here, I know, but I’m hoping someone has gotten this to work and can help me to do the same, because I know for a fact Dehancer DOES work on Arch. I found a Youtube video from two years where I guy used Dehancer on Arch and I reached out to him. He got back and now I’m also waiting a reply from him.

Not knowing anything about all this I was wondering if you already visited the below mentioned link ?

Perhaps I should have mentioned, but I supposed it wouldn’t be necessary to anyone familiar with the subject.

Dehancer is a third-party plugin for DaVinci resolve, which, itself, works just fine, completely without issues.

Ok well let’s hope that there someone chimes in that has any knowledge of this.

It might be worth reviewing the Davinci Resolve logs under ~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/logs/, and launching Resolve from the command line so you can monitor any useful output:

/opt/resolve/bin/resolve

That was a good idea. Looking at the logs I came across this:

Notice where it says plugin not supported on this platform, is being skipped. So I’m wondering, would it perhaps be possible to “spoof” another OS and fool the pluggin into being loaded?

It worked under Nobara, so I don’t think it’s a Linux vs Windows thing.

Crazy idea, tried running under an X11 session?

Crazy indeed, let me try.

How are you installing Dehancer?

It will likely need to be the Linux specific release.

With the official installer for Linux

Yes.

Same failed to load error.

I want to add an update, because I got it to work eventually.

I’m not sure what did it, but I suspect it has to do with how you install Resolve. Let me explain. Up until now I would always just use the AUR and install it from there. When I saw Dehancer would no work with Resolve I tried all I could think of, EXCEPT changing the way I install Resolve.

Eventually I gave up, I installed Nobara and thought that was it. Until I had this idea. What if I install Arch again and download Resolve and install it via the .run file DaVinci provides, the “official” way.

And sure enough, installing it this way, without using the AUR, means Dehancer loads and works just fine… I don’t know how and why, I just know that it does.

I do want to add, fwiw, that the following is necesarry if you don’t use the AUR to install Resolve:

cd /opt/resolve/libs && mkdir disabled-libraries && sudo mv libglib* libgio* libgmodule* disabled-libraries

and

sudo pacman -S libxcrypt-compat

because otherwise, Resolve simply won’t even launch.
