If you use systemd-boot take a look here:
I believe you can set the default boot kernel by highlighting it and pressing shift d
It should then put a little arrow next to it. When a new kernel gets installed you’ll need to do it again
Just to complete this for grub (if you happen to use grub instead of systemd-boot), add line
GRUB_TOP_LEVEL=/boot/vmlinuz-linux
(or use another kernel file if needed) into file /etc/default/grub
.
If you follow the approach that @moxdrox posted, you will not need to redo it when the kernel updates.
