Long story short, Resolve has no sound. After fidgeting and re-encoding audio to formats it likes or using .wav files, nothing. Checked pro profile per this post https://github.com/devkoyote/davinci_resolve_audio_linux , still nothing. Thought to check the audio volume taskbar widget, and under the applications tab there is a Pipewire ALSA (resolve) entry that mutes and unmutes itself rapidly, producing a flashing “glitch” at the right of the taskbar that i had dismissed as a graphical glitch ( it occurs only when Resolve is running).
When it comes to rendering, some render settings render normally, others produce an estimated time for render of two plus hours for a 20s clip and never render. I have not exhausted the possibility of bad video files on my end for this one, just asking if any one has noticed anything similar.
If you need any diagnostics/ system info let me know, the forum log tool sends me to a 404 error page, not sure what info i could provide to help those that wish to help.
Not an expert with this at all but if you can maybe install a similar program and see if that picks it up or not to help others rule things out (sorry I can’t be more helpful)
Installed losslesscut, both audio and video play back fine. The entry in the applications tab of the audio volume is named Chromium though, i will assume it has something to do with how it works.
Thanks for replying, don’t sweat about not being more helpfull
I don’t use Davinci Resolve either but I know of it. It’s technically made for Rocky Linux and not the arch distro of this world. That said Chris Titus has a page and video on how to fix various issue with Davinci on linux. There is a section about no audio :
Found that video when i had trouble with h264 codecs, unfortunately the audio problem i face is not the one Titus mentions in the video or post.
Also found a youtube short that mentioned the exact same problems i have, and argued that it happens because resolve tries to use an audio device but pipewire -alsa does not let it for some reason, it mentioned a fix that was nowhere to be found.
Cannot find how to edit the original post (something i did two days ago, what is wrong with me), so i post for future reference to any one with the same problem.
The solution is the pro profile on the soundcards/ devices, something i thought i did but i just checked if it is possible without changing anything apparently.
Turned both sound devices to pro-profile and the sound works.
