Curious about general consensus of DE among Endeavouros users?

Speaking of DE, when I try another DE I always end up back at KDE because you need so much manually. I tried to configure a manual setup with scripts and hotkeys and whatnot using awesome/xmonad etc tiling wms and quickly realized it was a never ending battle of just working on your config. Same with Gnome, I want taskbar and systray and launcher - it doesn’t make me or my OS a Windows clone anymore than MacOS is, its just efficient.

I would tend to agree with you, but it is the only thing that is even considered as an X11 replacement- I wouldn’t even consider using Wayland as long as the alternative exists, but with Fedora phasing out X11, and KDE investing a lot of effort into Wayland, we are going to eventually run out of options.

Agreed, but I’m not sure how much of that is due to Linux politics vs technical merit. Much like Gnome being pushed down everyone’s throats by RH, major distros dropping KDE years ago, and only KDE seems to have any real innovation or even pretending to listen to their users and think about features and usability.

I predict 10 years from now X11 will still be alive and well even though I don’t think thats good for Linux. But not in the major distros. By that time we’ll have Gnome 100 which will have a locked down desktop and set of apps and any attempt to tweak or configure or change the Gnome devs defaults in any way will cause a hard reset.

I just didn’t know if you had seen this before. Didn’t realize it was that dated. :innocent:

Is that a KDE Hammer?

Not that effektive it seems; she needs to do it again and again
