I always dread these configuration file changes, my least liked aspects of Arch distributions. The parameters are terse, not always intuitive, and when you think they might be, they aren’t. If I want to keep my printer working, how do I set these dozens of parameters? I’m trying not to Bork the printer by making almost random choices. Is there somewhere in the Arch world some reference for all of these configuration files?
I just overwrote it. It didn’t break, so I guess no big deal.
Same here, made a copy of my old cupsd.conf, then overwrote with the .pacnew file. Cups still working fine afterwards.

Yeah, making a backup copy of the existing config file is very wise. Especially if you are unsure about the changes.
