Correct Driver for usb-c docking station

I bought a Tobenone UDS015D but couldn’t find correct driver for HDMI port 2. Can’t figure what display chipset they use in this unit. I installed DisplayLink driver but didn’t help.

I don’t see a linux logo for their ‘instantview’ driver sync here.

this is from their compatibility page re: your specific model–

Linux not supported but you are on your own with mystery driver…and the sentence before that one says Ubuntu is supported so this company really needs an editor.

start detective work with Ubuntu?
or yay -Ss TobenONE and see what you see. good luck.

The fact that they say Linux not supported in general but Ubuntu is supports the idea that it’s a DisplayLink device. They do have an official driver for DisplayLink for Ubuntu. Doesn’t work very well in my experience, but they do officially support Ubuntu exclusively for Linux.

I don’t think this is a displaylink device. It uses silicon motion driver. There is one in the AUR but it is only for X11.

From what i have read it doesn’t look like it works very well if even at all. You could try it for yourself if using X11. Personally i would look at getting a known usb-c dock that works on linux. I’m sorry. I know that’s probably not what you want to hear.

good avenue for the OP, warts and all then.

OP: toben posted this as a workaround too: https://www.siliconmotion.com/product/Graphics-Display-SoCs.html there’s a driver there linux-compatible as far as I could see.

AUR search turned up nothing.
