Connect Brother hl-1212W printer

Using Settings>Print Settings I added the recommended drtiver from Brother which is Brother HL-1230 Foomatic/hl1250 (recommended), but it adds many charcters not part of the document.
Is anyone using this printer? Any suggestions?

Is it this one?

The package is there!

yay -S brother-hl-l1230w

You missed a “-” out.

Thank you. I did that, but the 1230 driver doesn’t work. All letters that have downward extensions like “g” get the extension overwritten.

Is the printer model correct? Not sure what you mean by all letters that have downward extensions like “g” get the extension overwritten.

Edit: I have a brother printer hl-l2320D

@ionmich

Did you try the brother hl-l210w package? Sorry i thought it was hl-1230W. My mistake.

I had no trouble building the package. Have you tried clean building this package using A for all. You may have some packages in cache that it is picking up on.

To install just use

yay -S brother-hl1210w and do a clean build using A for all.

Edit: If the package builds and installs then you go into print settings and add the printer.

Thank you. Sounds logical I will try it tomorrow.

they had my brother in the AUR (when I had a brother) and the driver worked. reboot reboot reboot.

if that doesn’t work I’ve faked these out with pcl5 generic drivers (in Add Printer settings) without losing anything. I assume your model is monochrome.
