Computer sudden shutdown and bios reset and extra

Hello,

I’ve got a little problem and want to exlude the distro out of this before checking my hw; going to paste some logs

  • inxi -Fxxc0z --no-host
    http://ix.io/4IPh

  • journalctl -b -0 | eos-sendlog
Hint: You are currently not seeing messages from other users and the system.
Users in groups ‘adm’, ‘systemd-journal’, ‘wheel’ can see all messages.
Pass -q to turn off this notice.
??? Dunno why I get the notice above

  • cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | eos-sendlog
    http://ix.io/4IPj
So my pc is working fine  except for random shutdowns and bios resets. It happens when browsing the internet, having my phone connected via usb, playing some games in emulators (yuzu). I’ve recently updated my bios, but it happened with previous version the same. It’s very random and tricky for me to get to the bottom of this. Extra problem: I get the notice above for journalctl above.
PS: it happened again while in virt-machine with phone redirected to my windows 10 virtual desktop. I’ve enabled typical current option in bios and still get shutdown and bios reset. It happens frequently since my 11.10.2023 series of updates and since the last kernel update.

EDIT: I’m almost sure is the PSU acting strange and not any updates. This PSU had some little problems even on windows 10 a few years back, now I’m going to get rid of it for good, but will have to analyze a little more just to be 100% it’s the psu.

Thank you kindly for any insight !

How are your voltages ? when you look in the BIOS.
If you suspect the power supply, you can check it with this economical tool:

Good point, I’m so distracted today cannot think clear, should have checked values in bios and will also buy the recommended tool for my peace of mind, but next week. Checked with my retail shop and altough I have 10 years warranty, the conditions I need to meet are horrendous. Maybe I have a better chance to e-mail Corsair and maybe RMA directly to them. I want to rma, get a good one back and resell it to someone and get a Seasonic or something and never hear again of corsair psu.

I lost 3 power supplies in the last 10 years …
They do tend to fail.
One caught fire in front of me and my son in Quebec city around 2005. The capacitor went pufff and the dust and cat + dog hair in it ignited … good thing it did it while we were next to it

Got voltage reading 4.65 V on the 5 V rail, a bit low. Still can’t trust the bios readings, but at least I’m close to figuring out (will test with the tool you recommended). Will also check for loose connections, cause now I’m on paranoia mode.

You might like to read about the A+ certification. It deals with hardware for computers. You may be able to find some good books that have good sections on power supplies.
Here is mine: (6th edition) (it also talks about linux … )

Multimeter test: 3.3 V ok, -12 V ok, 5V a little tiny spark and value reads 0. After that 3.3V reads 0.15, -12 V reads 0.67 V etc. After 2 resets, I get nominal values. Never again Corsair, going for Seasonic platinum.
