I’ve not been around for a while - I usually use a vanilla Arch install and haven’t had much time to keep up with EOS recently. Anyway, I’ve been having some problems configuring a printer at a place that I quite often work. Found that MX Linux has no problems finding and configuring the same printer, so I suspect I must have something lacking in my cups setup. At home I’m using a Brother laser printer, built an Aur-style set of drivers for it ages ago. I also found that an EOS install used by a college configured the printer I mentioned without problems. So I decided to try a new EOS install and see where that got me. It not only works with the printer that was giving me problems, but also found my Brother laser and has it working without the need for the Brother drivers. Seems great. But I’m having some problems with colours in my shiny new EOS install.
I use MC a lot, especially for remote use. In an XFCE terminal, the standard MC setup is almost unusable - the blue used by default in MC is lighter than it should be, but also much more intense. I’ve seen similar issues under Ubuntu. I thought it might be the dark theme, but the problem is still visible after trying a number of other themes. Next idea is that the problem is the colour profile used by EOS. Unfortunately, I have no idea how that is set or how to change it to match the colour profile in a vanilla Arch install.
Any pointers as to how to approach that would be very helpful…
My new install is to a Lenovo T480, but I’ve seen similar problems on a desktop using AMD graphics.
