Codecs for Opera

The first time I installed Opera browser by using AUR I needed to install `opera-ffmpeg-codecs-bin` from AUR to play media, some time later I can see in AUR this message:

Packages not in AUR: opera-ffmpeg-codecs-bin

I’ve searched another package in AUR and Pacman but I can find any packages related to codecs for Opera, Is it no longer necessary?

These are the Opera codecs available in the AUR:

Hi, thanks for your answer, my output:

$ yay opera
145 aur/opera-developer-ffmpeg-codecs-bin 1:140.0.7339.81-1 (+0 0.00)
134 aur/opera-gx-stable-ffmpeg-codecs-bin 1:127.0.5778.75-1 (+1 0.87)
129 aur/opera-beta-ffmpeg-codecs-bin 1:140.0.7339.81-1 (+0 0.00)
119 aur/opera-extension-bitwarden-git 2025.8.2.r19193.g678c5cb-1 (+1 0.00)
94 aur/operator-sdk-git r386.a719b04-1 (+0 0.00) (Orphaned) (Out-of-date: 2025-02-17)
92 aur/operator-registry-opm-bin 1.64.0-0 (+1 0.00)
87 aur/opera-gx-stable 127.0.5778.75-3 (+1 0.87)
80 aur/opera-proxy-git 1.12.0.r0.g6ddb8d2-1 (+3 0.06)
74 aur/opera-developer 129.0.5818.0-1 (+91 0.03)
73 aur/opera-beta 126.0.5750.30-1 (+35 0.00)
1 aur/opera 128.0.5807.25-1 (+32 1.10) (Installed)

as you see my current package installed is aur/opera, for my current context, must I understand there is no codecs available for this package so I need to replace it for another package (example: aur/opera-gx-stable) which has codecs available?

To be honest, I don’t know for sure. I’ve not heard of needing codecs for a browser in years. I’ve never needed to install codecs for any browser. Hopefully someone who uses Opera will chime in.

You don’t need an external opera-ffmpeg-codecs package any more:
