Clicking on "Workspaces" or typing Super+W is not showing side bar with desktop thumbnails

I installed cosmic group on my primary machine yesterday and have been exploring the environment. My Workspace overview option seems like broken or not showing any workspace overview. My system is fully up to date. Any help would be appreciated.

Clean install with only Cosmic? Or do you have Cosmic and another DE installed?

Did you mean just the DE or OS itself?

Yes, I have Gnome installed.

BOTH.

Two DEs on the same OS is never a good idea. Even if they’re closely related like Cosmic and Gnome. You’ll never get the full experience and may see errors or suffer issues. Best to install on a VM and test or clean install JUST the Cosmic DE.

If you have an application running in workspace 1, then press
Super+down-arrow then Super+up-arrow to switch between them.

If no apps are running in workspace 1 it assumes you don’t need another.
If you have apps running in Workspace 1 and Workspace 2, Super+down-arrow will show a third empty workspace.

I removed gnome, gnome-extra, and cosmic using -Runs flag from tty. Furthermore, I removed cosmic from .config. However after installing cosmic again did not resolve the problem. I have some projects pending so wiping eos will take time.

I think I saw a few cosmic on VM installation and they didn’t have this problem.

Yes, I have been using this as a workaround.
